Road Inventories

Rising traffic volumes call for an expansion and optimization of the existing traffic network. Modern planning is based on inventories taken with up-to-date measurement technology and on the creation of digital planning data. For reasons of up-to-dateness, accuracy and cost-effectiveness, the use of legacy analog planning material is normally out of the question.

Inventory-taking should interfere as little as possible with the traffic flow, and road closures should be avoided, especially for very busy roads.

Therefore, MLS is the method of choice for street inventories in terms of operationality, accuracy and cost-effectiveness. One of its greatest benefits is the fact that it greatly reduces the need for resource- and cost-intensive road closures and security measures:

  • Variant 1: Speed reduction on all lanes by means of escort vehicles (“rolling construction site” - suitable for less busy highway sections)
  • Variant 2: Speed reduction only on the currently used lane, backed by an escort vehicle (suitable also for busy highway sections)

3D mapping of: Road surfaces, road infrastructure, undercrossings and overcrossings, noise walls
For: Inventory plans; assessment of street conditions; road space models; registries of lamp poles, traffic signs, trees and manhole covers; roadway markings; profile sections; route planning for heavy haulage and rescue teams; visualizations (for navigation systems, tourism, project pre-planning); noise mapping
